The Party Checklist
The party checklist, everything you need to know to organise the best children's
party all in one place!

So it's that time of year again, it's your child's birthday and you need to
organise the best birthday party they have ever had, and it’s all on your head
of it goes wrong! So we've created a check list of everything you need for your
party!
Whether you’re on a budget or not, we have included everything that you will
need right here!
Venue
Tight Budget
Why not throw your birthday party at home, or in your garden as it's free!
Alternatively, why not check out local community halls, they are usually very
cheap and easy for parents to reach with good parking.
We have some on our Party Search Engine, check them out here <>
Community Halls can be as cheap as £5 p/h, with hour 2 hours for the party, 1
hour to get the hall ready and to clean up after. That's £ 15, an absolute
bargain. Some community halls are even FREE, even better!
It also means that the children have plenty of room for the kids to run around!
Healthy Budget
Why not arrange the party at a zoo or a children's adventure centre, swimming
party, the list is endless!
Check out our Party Search Engine for some fab places you could have your
children's party.
If you have the money these are great because you usually get food and
everything included so all you have to do is pay and turn up!
Theme
You may want a theme for your party. We have a created a list of some ideas.
Themes are fun, it means kids can dress up and really get into the party
spirit.
So now you have the venue, you have your theme, now you need guests.
Sit down with your child and get him/her to let you know who they want there.
You now need invitations. Make sure you give everyone plenty of notice so as not
to be disappointed.
Invitations
Why not make your own invitations? Use your computer, be creative.
Most computer applications (Microsoft Word contain pre-designed templates for
you to use), or if you’re not a computer Wiz, why not have a craft day with your
kids!
Get them to make their own invitations. Not only do you get the invitations
made, you also get your kids entertained for a while.
Once complete, simply take the invitations to school and get the teacher to hand
them out. Job done!
We’ve made a couple of party invitations for you to simply print off.

We understand that sometimes you won’t have time to make invitations If you
haven't got time to make the invitations pop to a local card shop or even a
Poundland. You can pick up your invitations and they are already made, and you
can get them pretty cheap, just make sure you shop around to get the best
deal.
Entertainment
Healthy Budget
Why not hire a clown, magician or any form of children's entertainers. There are
literally thousands of children's entertainers out there all over the UK. Check
out our Party Search Engine, we have a large number of them on there
for you to choose from.
We believe that it is worth splashing a little bit of cash on an entertainer if
you can. It will keep the children entertained and will make the party far more
stress free for you, as I'm sure you know a children's party can be extremely
chaotic, with children running around everywhere.
Hiring an entertainer would be a perfect way to keep the children entertained,
whilst you can step back a bit, relax and enjoy the day.
Tight Budget
If you really can't afford a professional children's entertainer, then become
the entertainer yourself. Why not create some party games (Children's Party Games Ideas) and stick some music on. Kids
are great at entertaining themselves.
Decorations
Party decorations are easy, all you need is balloons lots of them! Not only do
they look good and don't cost the earth they also keep the children entertained!
Bubble machines are good too. You can pick them up pretty cheap and they add a
great atmosphere. Or even simply supply the children with bubbles. Again,
really cheap to buy and it will keep them entertained for a good while.
Food
Healthy Budget
Why not hire a party caterer? There are many around for different budgets.
Have a look at our Parties Search Engine and see if you can find any party
caterers within your area?

Tight Budget
If you have time party food can be done really cheaply. Cheese sandwiches, Ham
sandwiches, tomato sandwiches, crisps, pizza slices, sausage rolls, biscuits,
cakes… the list is endless of what you can do. They are cheap to buy and easy
to make… extremely easy to make.
If you really haven't got any time to make party food, why not hire a caterer.
You can search for one by using our parties search engine here.
Help
Make sure there are at least a few adults at the party, just to make sure it all
runs smoothly.
Party Bags
When kids go to party's they just love to get a party bag as something to take
home with them. But these don’t have to cost the Earth. All you need are a few
sweets, birthday cake and maybe a little toy of some sort, you can pick them up
real cheap online.
Birthday Cake
Feeling adventurous? Why not make your own cake?
My favourite birthday cake I had as a child was one my mum made. It was a yummy
chocolate cake shaped as a hedgehog, and it's the only birthday cake I remember,
probably because I remember spending ages making it with her, and I remember how
fun it was.
You can get a recipe to make your own hedgehog cake here: Hedgehog Cake
or you could always make a basic sponge, and if you’re feeling especially
creative, why not make a cake shaped as your child's favourite cartoon
character.
Sometime you just don't have time to make a cake, so why not buy one? You can
pick up some great birthday cakes and reasonable prices at your local
supermarket. In Sainsburys/Tesco you can actually get a cake with a photo of
your choice on the icing. I think that this is a nice idea.
Tableware
You don't want to use fragile plates or cups that are going to be broken, and
you most definitely don't want a huge pile of washing up. Just get disposable
plates and cups. Once again you can pick these up really cheap, and at the end
of the party all you need to do it throw them away (or recycle them).
Children’s parties are great fun and give parents a lot of chances to be
creative without having to spend the Earth on extravagant decorations, and such.
Remember to make sure that you have each of the above areas covered, so that
your party runs as smooth as pie.
Good luck!
